Welcome

Welcome to my web site

It is interesting how few versatile uses can be brought to the imagination when first looking at a simple, flat piece of paper.

Paper is generally seen simply as a material to support the written word or to wrap, fold or provide simple decoration.  However, under discreet illumination certain paper materials can reveal texture and pattern qualities that are usually unrealised.

This is the foundation of the current work from Sharyn Dunn Designs.  The “Lightscape” concept builds on these properties by folding and manipulating the materials to create geometric and organic structures that develop their own unique light and shadow effects.  By the addition of creative lighting, the resulting sculptures provide the observer with a unique, dynamic and thought provoking experience.

The materials used are varied, predominately papers, and simulated parchment, each chosen for their visual quality, strength and ecological features.  The simulated parchment for example is produced from a pure pulp and laminated with natural starches and is therefore chlorine free, fully biodegradable and recyclable.  The sculptures can also be created in other materials such as metal and tyvek.  Together they form a set of displays and functional lighting sculptures for both the home and commercial environment.
